Ateneum-salonki tarjoaa elävän musiikin siivittämää vireää keskustelua Cafe Höijerissä. Musiikkivalinnat ja keskustelun aiheet nousevat esillä olevien näyttelyiden teemoista ja teoksista.
Joulukuun salongissa sukelletaan keskiaikaan. Mikä keskiajassa kiehtoo? Millaisen tiedon ja mielikuvituksen varassa eläydymme nyt kaukaisten vuosisatojen elämään? Keskustelemassa kirjailija Anneli Kanto ja museonjohtaja Anna-Maria von Bonsdorff.
Ensemble Gamut! tuo salonkiin keskiajalta tähän päivään kurkottavia maallisia sekä hengellisiä rakkauslauluja, lyyristä rakkausrunoutta eurooppalaisista kokoelmista. Pyhän Birgitan sisäistyneen huokaavat rukoukset ja toisaalta Hildegard Bingeniläisen eroottisiksikin tulkitut, ruumiin ja sielun läpi virtaavat tekstit yhdistyvät suomalaisiin kansansävelmiin ja yhtyeen omaan improvisaatioon luoden ajattoman sävelmaailman.

Ateneum salon: Dive into the Middle Ages
The Ateneum Salon offers lively discussion and live music at Café Höijer. The music selections and discussion topics are derived from the themes of the exhibitions and works on display.
The December edition of the Ateneum Salon will dive into the Middle Ages. Why the fascination with the Middle Ages? What knowledge and imagination do we need today to immerse ourselves in the life of centuries long past? The topic will be discussed by the author Anneli Kanto and the director of the Ateneum, Anna-Maria von Bonsdorff.
Ensemble Gamut! brings to the Ateneum Salon secular and religious love songs, representing lyrical European love poetry and dating from the Middle Ages to the present day. Saint Bridget’s introspective, sigh-like prayers, and Hildegard of Bingen’s texts, characterised as erotic and flowing through body and soul, are combined with Finnish folk tunes and the group’s own improvisation, creating a timeless world of music.
