Mariana Preda and Juho Myllylä share a passion to constantly delve into the possibilities of the combination of their instrument families in different music styles, ever since the beginning of their collaboration during their studies at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. In their colorful and engaging concert programmes contemporary soundscapes seamlessly connect to timeless earlier and traditional music.
Active collaboration with composers has resulted in a number of new works, such as the cycle Wavelengths by John Franek, which premiered at the Grachtenfestival 2022 in Amsterdam and was released as the debut album of the duo (Donemus/Composer’s Voice, 2022). Wilma Pistorius’ Play/Space for the two instruments and audience participation toured the Netherlands in 2023 and was supported by Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst (Amsterdam Fund for the Arts).
